Jessica Sunnebo’s 2023 thesis explores the poetry of Swedish poet Nina Södergren (1924–2015) through an ecocritical and animistic lens. Birdpoetic Worlds: Sensing the More-than-Human Worlds Through Nina Södergren’s Bird Poems aims to identify and explore how Södergren’s bird-poetics serve as an invitation to sense a relational experience and interconnectedness with the more-than-human world. It focuses particularly on Södergren’s embodied approach to writing poetry, in which she attentively listens to and immerses herself in nature’s soundscapes and the presence of birds.
